What to Do When You Can’t Decide
Here’s a simple little thing that I always like to do for myself if I’m ever in a situation where I can’t decide what I’m gonna do or how I’m gonna move forward. What I do is imagine the future I want for myself and then picture different decisions as paths.
Here’s an exact example:
Over the weekend I was asked if I wanted to go to a park for a barbecue to have lunch and catch up with people. That’s fine – I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with those things – but what I had in mind was sitting down to get 14 hours worth of content done. I also had about 120 emails I wanted to action. The lunch was taking place on a Sunday and the last thing I wanted to do was start my Monday on the backfoot with all those things in the back of my mind.
So do I make a decision with something that’s moving me forward and towards getting my success and to crushing it? Or was I going to choose that step backwards. Some people don’t see that as a step backwards, because at the end of the day it’s just a barbecue. And don’t get me wrong, it’s not a negative thing. It’s not a good or a bad thing, but it’s not pushing you forward. And if it’s not pushing you forward, then unfortunately it’s taking you backwards.
