Why We Get Angry
You know what really makes me angry?
The number one thing that gets me angry is when I go along with an angry thought. Everybody has around 50,000 to 70,000 thoughts a day. And what makes you angry is going along with those thoughts.
I like to use the analogy of a stream. The stream is always going by all day, every day. We’re humans and were always having those thoughts. But the second that you can start to create that barrier between those thoughts and your emotions, you’ll start to watch them go by and have a peaceful look on them.
If there’s a problem or something’s unfair, it’s when you jump on board and run along with it and get worked up and carry it along with you that you start to get upset. Then you start to look for more things that you can get worked up about. Before you know it, you start to be in a foul mood and you start to get bad habits.
Start to take control of your thoughts today. Start to look at them and witness them, instead of jumping in with them. Create that space and start to realise that hey, it’s not that bad.
